Introduction to Computing

Usage Areas of Computing

It would have been a very limited list if you were attending this course 50 years ago. But now, the opposite is true, i.e. we are living in a period that there are fewer areas of human activity that does not involve computer usage.

The locomotive areas of computation are communication, transportation, finance, production, health care, education, defense, agriculture, and so on. Anything with the tiniest electronic chip has a logical operation flow inheriting a basic finite state machine architecture.

Faults or configuration errors in software may lead to catastrophic events on machines that are structurally and mechanically in perfect operational condition. You could search for software disasters for such major accidents.
